BreastScreen NSW is committed to reducing the barriers to screening for people with a disability or special requirements. If you are a person who has special requirements or lives with a chronic health condition, in most cases we can support you to have a breast screen.  

BreastScreen NSW staff are experienced in assisting women to safely complete their mammogram when adjustments are needed.

All of our clinics are accessible, including our mobile vans. If you have access requirements, please let us know when booking your appointment to discuss any support or adjustment needs, so that we can allow for extra time and staff if needed.

Wheelchair users and those requiring extra assistance may find our fixed clinics easier to navigate. To find your nearest clinic, search our screening locations.

If you are deaf or find it hard to hear or speak to hearing people on the phone, you can contact BreastScreen NSW using the following National Relay Service (NRS): 

We can have an Auslan interpreter at your breast screen. Just let us know when you book.

If you need a language interpreter, call the Translating and Interpreting Service on 13 14 50 for help to book a breast screen, and to arrange an interpreter for your appointment. 

Only certified interpreters can be used to interpret health information during your appointment. 

A carer, friend or family member is welcome to attend your breast screen with you.  

We offer group bookings for women who feel more comfortable coming for a breast screen together. You might like to bring friends, family or other women in your community. 

For a group, we book a series of appointment times on the same day. Each woman has a private appointment with a female radiographer.

Guide and assistance dogs are always welcome at BreastScreen NSW. Please advise us when booking. 

BreastScreen NSW is a free health service for women from diverse cultures and language groups. We support women in multicultural communities to access regular breast screenings.  

Information about breast screening is available in 28 different languages.

BreastScreen NSW aims to provide a culturally safe place of care.
