BreastScreen NSW has temporarily suspended screening26-03-2020
To prioritise the wellbeing of women, staff and our community, BreastScreen NSW has temporarily suspended routine breast screening to limit the transmission of COVID-19 (coronavirus). It will also help to free up capacity in our health care system by making our clinicians available to support and respond to COVID-19, and by reducing the demand on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which would otherwise be required if we continued to screen routinely.
- Cancelled appointments: If you’ve had your appointment cancelled, you will be notified by BreastScreen NSW directly as soon as possible. We will contact you again to reschedule your appointment when the service re-opens.
- Result letters: If you’ve recently had a screen with us, rest assured you will still be notified of your results by letter.
- Recall for additional tests: If you’ve been called back for additional tests, you will still be able to attend your follow-up appointments.
We encourage you to remain breast aware and if you find a that is unusual for you, contact your doctor or health worker without delay.
Thank-you for your support and understanding. Take care of yourselves and each other during this difficult time.
